"Cost Offset of Treatment Services", a publication by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, clearly shows the huge cost savings that can be experienced through implementing and maintaining effective community-based drug abuse treatments---of which Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) can be a part---in our communities. The report authors point out "Even beyond the enormous physical and psychological costs, treatment can save money by diminishing the huge financial consequences imposed on employers and taxpayers". Indeed, the benefit-cost ratio of treatment is 7:1. Here are some of the facts in the report:
