Are the concepts, principles and ideas of Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) in the public domain and thus available for anyone to use?
The concepts, ideas and principles of BSFT are in the public domain, and anyone can provide BSFT so long as they are duly certified(see FAQ on "certification"). The principles underlying BSFT were co-developed years ago by Olga Hervis and Jose Szapocznik using governmental grants requiring dedication of the work to the public domain. The original works co-authored by Szapocznik and Hervis include disclaimers that expressly dedicate the works to the public so that anyone who is properly certified can freely use BSFT.
