The National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice was established in July 2001 to assist the field in developing improved policies and programs for youth with mental health disorders in contact with the juvenile justice system, based on the best available research and practice. The Center, which is operated by Policy Research, Inc. in Delmar, NY is supported by a grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and operates current projects with funding from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
